Beverages in Madagascar

While ranonapango is the most common and traditional beverage in Madagascar, a variety of other drinks are available for purchase. Black tea and coffee are locally produced and widely consumed, as are a wide variety of herbal teas such as lemongrass and ravin'oliva (eucalyptus citrodora, or "lemon bush").

Fruit juices are popular, as is a hot beverage made from powdered sweetened soy that is often consumed at breakfast. Fresh milk, however, is a luxury, and the locally produced yogurts or sweetened condensed milk mixed with hot water are the most common dairy sources of calcium.
