Brunei is located in the northwestern region of the island of Borneo and therefore falls in the equatorial climatic zone. Climate of Brunei is therefore of the equatorial type. High temperature and heavy rainfall, which are the typical features of equatorial climate, characterize the climate of Brunei.
Brunei is officially known as Brunei Darussalam. The word Darussalam literally means 'the Abode of Peace'. The Constitution identifies Islam as the official religion of Brunei.
Brunei has a constitutional sultanate type of government which operates on the basis of the constitution of Brunei.
